The Gin Journey
From Birthday to Business
The Fenney Street Gin journey began following the random birthday gift of a mini copper still back in 2017. With Paul’s relentless need to find the next world dominating business idea and Becky's willingness to go along with it all; within the blink of an eye, a fully licensed nano-distillery was set up in their kitchen on Fenney Street, Salford. The art of crafting gin was and still is a far cry from their regular day jobs as Nurse and Midwife within the NHS.
From the beginning, they carefully selected the finest botanicals, sourced elegant bottles and designed labels with a 1920’s yet contemporary finish. Before they knew it, their half baked business idea was not only a firm favourite in the homes of their friends and family, but on the shelves of bars, restaurants and upmarket department stores.
As the business organically grew, the house living space got smaller and smaller. Before long, they had outgrown their grass roots on Fenney Street and the decision was made to move and expand the distillery to their home county of Cumbria in the heart of the Lake District. Keeping things close to home, the purpose built distillery is now situated within a converted barn at Becky's childhood home.
The plan, if there ever was one, has always been to create a handcrafted luxury gin brand that focuses on quality over quantity. The small-batch production methods are kept to a sustainable level ensuring every bottle is just as perfect as the last. With the Fenney Street Gin brand being just the beginning, this ethos remains the focus of everything they do as the business expands and more products are developed.
